Farmer Dies After Being Stung by Swarm of Bees in Osun; Two Others Injured
Tragedy has struck the people of Alalade Compound in Ada, Osun State, after a farmer, Mr. Abideen Olabiyi, was stung to death by a swarm of bees, with two others also severely injured in the attack.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Olobe Farm in Igbajo, and was confirmed by the Otan Ayegbaju Police Division on Saturday.
The two injured individuals, Mr. Solomon Kingsley and Chief Olusegun Alalade, both from Alalade Compound, are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
According to a police report, the attack took place in the late afternoon, around 4:45 p.m. The victims had traveled to the farm when they were swarmed by bees. While Mr. Olabiyi tragically succumbed to the stings, the other two managed to escape with their lives.
The police have since visited the scene, documented the incident with photographs, and removed the deceased’s body, which was subsequently deposited at the Healthy Paradise Mortuary in Ikirun for autopsy.
A portion of the police report read:
“On Friday, April 18, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a complaint was received from Babasanjo Alalade of Alalade Compound, Ada, regarding the tragic incident. He stated that his brothers, Abideen Olabiyi, Solomon Kingsley, and Chief Olusegun Alalade, were attacked by a swarm of bees while working on Olobe Farm, Igbajo. Unfortunately, Abideen Olabiyi died from the bee stings, while the other two victims were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The scene was visited by detectives, and the body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy.”
This tragic incident has left the community in deep mourning.
