EFCC Warns Public About Fake Land Sellers in Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended a suspected fraudulent land dealer, Nwobo Williams Chibuike, in Abuja.

Chibuike was arrested for allegedly deceiving members of the public by offering non-existent plots of land for sale in various parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including Kurudu, Sabon Lugbe East Extension, Kpeyegyi, and Jikwoyi Village Extension.

Investigations revealed that Chibuike, who falsely claimed to be the Managing Director of C&C Reality & Construction Limited, Dream-Krest Homes and Properties Limited, and Dan Faith Shelters Limited, was marketing fictitious properties across several FCT locations. Victims were lured into paying large sums for these fake properties—amounts ranging from ₦3.5 million to ₦60 million—for plots allegedly located in Karsana, Pyakasa, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Katampe Extension, Guzape 2, Kuje, and other areas.

Further enquiries by the EFCC with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) confirmed that none of the properties marketed by Chibuike or his agents actually exist.

The suspect will face prosecution once investigations are finalized.

The EFCC urges the public to exercise caution when dealing with land vendors, particularly itinerant marketers in and around the FCT, and to verify all property claims through appropriate channels.
