Emir of Ilorin Reaffirms Support for EFCC’s Anti-Corruption Efforts

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has pledged the steadfast support of the traditional institution in Kwara State to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its ongoing fight against corruption.

The Emir gave this assurance in Ilorin while receiving the Ilorin Zonal Director of the EFCC, Mr. Daniel Isei, and his management team during a courtesy visit to the palace.

Commending the Commission’s commitment to combating financial crimes, the monarch assured the Zonal Office of the palace’s full backing and cooperation. He emphasized that the battle against corruption requires a united front and active involvement of all segments of society.

“The people of Kwara are known for their courteous and peaceful nature. We believe in the collective responsibility to fight corruption. You have our support, our prayers, and our doors are always open,” the Emir stated.

He also extended prayers for the success of EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, describing the role he occupies as one of great national importance. The monarch recalled with pride his presence at the commissioning of the EFCC’s ultra-modern zonal office in Ilorin and reaffirmed his commitment to the agency’s mission.

Offering his royal blessings, the Emir reassured the visiting team of the palace’s readiness to assist the Commission in any way necessary.

In his remarks, Mr. Daniel Isei emphasized the vital role of traditional rulers in shaping public behavior and promoting accountability.

“Though I’ve only recently assumed office in Ilorin, I made it a priority to visit Your Royal Highness first. The traditional institution plays a crucial role in building trust and achieving lasting results in the anti-corruption campaign,” Isei said.

He explained that the purpose of the visit was to seek royal guidance and strengthen cooperation with traditional authorities. He also sought the Emir’s support in tackling the growing challenges of cybercrime and illegal mining in the state.

“We earnestly seek your prayers and wise counsel as we work to fulfill our constitutional mandate,” he added.
