Chimamanda Adichie To Headline Inaugural ‘Things Fall Apart’ Festival In Enugu
Award-winning author Chimamanda Adichie will headline the inaugural edition of the ‘Things Fall Apart Festival,’ in honour of Chinua Achebe’s literary legacy.
Organised by Enugu-based Centre for Memories, Ncheta Ndigbo, the festival aimed to expand the annual ‘Things Fall Apart’ Day in its fifth year and mark 67 years since the publication of the iconic novel.
The organisers expressed their excitement about having Adichie speak.at the event.
They described her as “one of the most powerful literary voices of our time” in an Instagram post, adding that she will reflect on storytelling, cultural identity, and the legacy of Chinua Achebe, “her greatest inspirations”.
“It’s Official! Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is Headlining the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025,” the post reads.
“We are screaming with excitement because the iconic Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – globally celebrated novelist, feminist, and one of the most powerful literary voices of our time is coming home to headline the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025.
“Adichie, fresh from her worldwide tour for her new book “Dream Count,” joins us to honour one of her greatest inspirations, the legendary Chinua Achebe, the pre-eminent storyteller whose words redefined African literature and consciousness.
“Adichie will reflect on storytelling, cultural rootedness, and the timeless dialogue between history and identity. Her presence marks a powerful moment in our collective exploration of the festival’s theme.”
The organisers described the festival as a “celebration and movement”.
“This is more than a festival, it’s a homecoming, a celebration, a movement. Achebe lives. Our stories rise. And you need to be part of it,” they added.
