2 Kano Federal Lawmakers Dump NNPP For APC

Two federal lawmakers from Kano State, Kabiru Usman and Abdullahi Sani, on Thursday, announced their defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved internal crises within the party.

The announcement was made during Thursday plenary at the House of Representatives, where Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read the lawmakers’ defection letters on the floor of the House.

Usman represents the Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituency, while Sani is the lawmaker representing Karaye/Rogo.

Their exit from the NNPP marks a significant political shift in Kano, a stronghold of the party during the last general elections.

In a related development, Oluwole Oke, a lawmaker from Osun State, also formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside other senior party officials, was present in the green chamber to witness the defections of the lawmakers.
