DSS Arrests Suspected Vote-Buyer with Bags of Cash in Ondo
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a man suspected of vote-buying during the ongoing Ondo State governorship election on Saturday.
The arrest took place at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007, near St. Stephen’s Primary School in Akure, the state capital. Eyewitnesses captured the moment when DSS officers, with the help of bystanders, ordered the suspect to open the boot of his Toyota Camry. Inside, two large “Ghana-must-go” bags were found, reportedly filled with cash intended to influence voters.
The suspect was quickly apprehended and escorted away by DSS agents.
Vote-buying has been a persistent issue in Nigerian elections, undermining the integrity of the electoral process. The DSS’s swift intervention underscores the continued efforts by security agencies to combat electoral malpractices and ensure free and fair elections.
