8 Soldiers Killed, 7 Policemen Kidnapped in Pakistan
A violent clash on Monday in the Tirah area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province left eight soldiers and nine militants dead, according to an intelligence officer who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a separate incident in the same province, seven police officers were kidnapped at a checkpoint. A senior police official, also speaking anonymously, reported that the assailants seized weapons from the officers during the attack.
Another official, Muhammad Zia ud-Din, confirmed the kidnapping.
These incidents highlight a growing wave of TTP attacks along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.
