PDP Governors Meet in Plateau, Vow to Renew Nigerians’ Hope
Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convened in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, to reaffirm their commitment to revitalizing the party and restoring hope for Nigerians.
Hosting the meeting, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, assured party faithful that the governors, alongside other key stakeholders, were dedicated to repositioning the PDP for stability and national relevance.
Speaking during a Gala Night at the Government House Banquet Hall on Friday, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP Governors’ Forum and attendees who traveled from across Nigeria to the “Home of Peace and Tourism.” He underscored the strategic significance of the gathering, aimed at restoring the party’s status as the preferred choice for Nigerians.
“This meeting of governors is deeply encouraging, as we see party leaders and stakeholders united in their commitment to stabilizing our great party and delivering hope to Nigerians,” Mutfwang said.
Highlighting Plateau State’s historical ties to the PDP, Mutfwang recalled its role in hosting the party’s inaugural convention and producing its first National Chairman. He declared Plateau the ‘Home of PDP’ and celebrated the state’s progress under his leadership.
“After years of failed leadership by the opposition, the people of Plateau have welcomed the PDP back. We are committed to improving lives and fulfilling our mandate of social justice and empowerment,” he added.
Unity and Vision for the Future
Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, praised the unwavering dedication of party stakeholders. He affirmed the PDP’s unity and resilience, emphasizing the party’s readiness to deliver on its promise of good governance.
“Governor Mutfwang has shown us the inclusive spirit of Plateau State. The PDP remains an indivisible entity, united across its leadership. We will continue working together to offer Nigerians better governance,” Senator Mohammed said.
Oyo State Governor and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Seyi Makinde, echoed these sentiments, reaffirming the governors’ determination to rebuild the party and reclaim its leadership role in national affairs.
Distinguished Attendees
The Gala Night was attended by prominent PDP leaders, including Governors Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), alongside the Deputy Governors of Bayelsa, Enugu, and Plateau States. Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Illiya Damagum, and other senior figures also graced the event.
Notable attendees included former Plateau State Governor Senator Jonah David Jang, former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, former Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, and Chairman of the PDP Ministers’ Forum, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, among other party leaders.
The meeting reaffirmed the PDP’s resolve to re-strategize, unify its ranks, and work toward delivering on its promises to Nigerians.
