Tinubu Returns to Abuja After G20 Summit in Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following his participation in the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The President’s aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 10:20 p.m. local time.

Key Highlights from the Summit

During the summit, President Tinubu endorsed a global alliance focused on combating hunger and poverty, underscoring its importance for sustainable global development.

The President also engaged in discussions with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Georgieva commended Nigeria’s recent economic reforms, noting their positive initial impact on the nation’s economy.

In a move to deepen Nigeria-Brazil economic ties, President Tinubu witnessed the signing of a $2.5 billion Letter of Intent between Nigeria and JBS S.A., one of Brazil’s largest meat processing companies. The agreement marks a significant milestone in fostering bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The summit reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to global partnerships addressing critical issues such as food security and economic resilience.
