Tinubu Congratulates Nigerian-born Ogunyemi on Election as Canadian Medical Association President

 

President Bola Tinubu has offered his heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Bolu Ogunyemi, a Nigerian-born Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland, on his recent election as President of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu celebrated Dr. Ogunyemi’s remarkable achievement, highlighting his expertise as a renowned dermatologist in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and his role as a visiting specialist in Labrador City since 2018.

Tinubu described Ogunyemi’s election as a testament to his visionary leadership, dedication to excellence, and commitment to improving the welfare of others. He expressed confidence that Ogunyemi’s vast experience in medical science and his 15 years of leadership would enable him to succeed in this prestigious role.

The president also expressed optimism that Ogunyemi’s election would be formally approved at the CMA’s Annual General Meeting in May 2025, allowing him to further elevate the association.

Tinubu encouraged the new CMA president to remain focused on his mandate, promoting inclusivity and respecting diverse perspectives. He also urged Ogunyemi to work alongside those who competed for the position, embracing them as partners in progress.
