OPSH Troops Arrest Kidnap Kingpin, Ammunition Courier in Plateau

Troops from the 3 Division Nigerian Army, under Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) and its Operation GOLDEN PEACE initiative, have successfully arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin and recovered a cache of ammunition in the Rafiki General Area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

According to a statement issued by Major Samson Zhakom, the Military Information Officer for OPSH, security agencies apprehended the primary suspect, Mohammed Musa (also known as Mamman), along with his accomplice, Mallam Alhassan Samaila.

A thorough search of the kidnap kingpin’s hideout led to the discovery of 439 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, which had been carefully concealed inside a 4-liter gallon.

The statement further revealed that initial investigations indicated that the suspects had been posing as transporters, using their vehicles to smuggle the ammunition to bandits operating in Plateau, Kaduna, and Zamfara states.

OPSH confirmed that the suspects were providing valuable information, and security agencies are continuing follow-up operations to apprehend other members of the criminal network and recover additional arms and ammunition.

The statement emphasized the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property within the Joint Operations Area, in line with the objectives of Operation GOLDEN PEACE.

OPSH also called on the public to assist security agencies by providing timely intelligence, which will help in eradicating criminal activities in the region.
