Zamfara Governor Lauds Rivers’ Development Efforts at Opobo Ring Road Commissioning

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has commended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his dedication to infrastructural development, citing it as a benchmark for sustainable growth.

Governor Lawal made these remarks on Monday while serving as the special guest of honor at the commissioning of the Opobo Ring Road and Bridges project in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Praising the achievement, Governor Lawal highlighted the transformative potential of the project, stating:
“Infrastructure development is a cornerstone of economic growth and social progress. The Opobo Ring Road and Bridges will undoubtedly enhance connectivity, promote trade, and provide residents with improved access to essential services.

“This infrastructure will spur economic activities, attract investment, boost tourism, and foster a sense of pride among the people of Opobo. It’s a testament to Governor Fubara’s commitment to the socio-economic advancement of Rivers State.”

Governor Lawal also drew parallels between Rivers and Zamfara States, emphasizing their shared focus on impactful infrastructure:
“In Zamfara, we are equally committed to transforming the lives of our people. Projects such as the Gusau International Airport and extensive road networks underscore our efforts to modernize infrastructure and create opportunities for sustainable growth. These align with Governor Fubara’s visionary leadership, which continues to inspire other states.”

In his address, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to Governor Lawal for his participation in the event and reaffirmed the project’s importance:
“This project holds personal significance for me. Initially launched on May 28, 2023, by the previous administration, we took over, redesigned, and upgraded it to its current standard. Its completion and inauguration bring me immense joy as it marks a milestone in our efforts to enhance the lives of our people.”

The Opobo Ring Road and Bridges are expected to improve regional connectivity, foster economic development, and provide lasting benefits to the residents of Opobo and neighboring communities.

Governor Lawal concluded by encouraging other states to emulate Rivers State’s commitment to infrastructural excellence, commending the leadership and vision driving such impactful projects.
