JUST-IN: Tinubu Arrives Lagos For Yuletide Holidays

President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos State on Wednesday afternoon to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays in his home state.

The President was received at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other top government officials.

Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos follows his presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget proposal, christened the ‘Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Building Prosperity’, before a joint session of the National Assembly earlier in the day.

Key Budget Highlights

The budget proposal, based on several economic parameters, includes:

  • Oil price benchmark: $75 per barrel
  • Domestic crude oil production: 2.06 million barrels per day
  • GDP growth rate: 4.6%
  • Exchange rate: N1400/$
  • Inflation rate: 15.75%

In his budget address, President Tinubu emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the economy and improving national welfare.

Allocations

  • Defence and Security: N4.91 trillion
  • Infrastructure: N4.06 trillion
  • Education: N3.5 trillion
  • Healthcare: N2.4 trillion

Tinubu described the budget as a tool to consolidate key policies aimed at restructuring and boosting the nation’s economy.

“Our nation faces challenges… they are surmountable when we work collectively. The time for lamentations is over; the time to act is now,” Tinubu told lawmakers during the presentation.

The President’s visit to Lagos marks a personal retreat during the Yuletide season after a busy year of national governance.
