Oyo Assembly Increases 2025 Budget by N6 Billion
The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved an upward adjustment of the state’s 2025 budget from N678 billion to N684 billion.
Approval Details
The decision was reached on Wednesday following the presentation of the House Committee on Finance, Appropriation, and State Economic Planning’s report, led by Chairman Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola (Egbeda State Constituency).
Governor Seyi Makinde had initially proposed a budget of N678.086 billion on November 13, 2024. However, during Thursday’s plenary session, presided over by Speaker Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the Assembly approved a revised budget of N684.149 billion.
Justification for the Increase
Speaker Ogundoyin highlighted that the budget adjustment was necessary to:
- Address emerging priorities in the state.
- Fund critical projects aimed at driving economic growth.
- Enhance infrastructure development.
- Improve the overall well-being of citizens.
This upward review underscores the government’s commitment to aligning fiscal planning with developmental needs and addressing evolving challenges to benefit the people of Oyo State.
