ACReSAL: Kwara Governor Launches Energy-Saving Stoves, Motorcycles Distribution
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inaugurated the distribution of 3,000 energy-saving cooking stoves and 193 motorcycles to support women and agricultural extension agents under the ACReSAL project.
The symbolic event, held in Ilorin, highlighted the administration’s efforts to boost the local economy, enhance agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable energy solutions.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. John Bello, the governor said the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to people-focused interventions and rural development through the World Bank-supported ACReSAL program.
“The distribution of energy-saving cooking stoves and motorcycles today is part of the gains and benefits of our investment in people-oriented interventions through the World Bank,” he said.
He noted that the ACReSAL project addresses various climatic challenges, including water supply issues and agricultural services, while promoting better living standards in rural areas.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Oloruntoyosi Thomas, described the motorcycles as essential tools for agricultural extension agents.
“These motorcycles are more than just vehicles; they are vital lifelines for agricultural extension agents, connecting even the most remote farmers to advanced agricultural practices and timely support,” she said.
Governor AbdulRazaq also called on community leaders, local government officials, and NGOs to maintain their roles in ensuring the project’s success.
