Police Record 30,313 Arrests, Recover 1,984 Firearms, 23,250 Ammunition In 2024
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made significant strides in combating crime, recording 30,313 arrests for various serious offences, recovering 1,984 assorted firearms, and seizing 23,250 rounds of ammunition in 2024. Additionally, the police rescued 1,581 victims of kidnapping over the past year.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun disclosed these achievements on Tuesday during a strategic meeting with senior police officers at the Goodluck Ebele Peacekeeping Hall at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the meeting was held to review the Force’s successes in 2024 and discuss plans for the future.
In his remarks, the IGP acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the police officers, especially in reducing crime and enhancing community engagement. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration to build trust between the police and the public.
“The IGP highlighted that innovation in technology and operational strategies will be a key focus for the Force in 2025,” the statement read. “He urged senior officers to adopt modern tools and progressive practices to improve crime prevention and investigations.”
As the nation approaches the festive season, the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, is set to implement measures to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all citizens.
ACP Adejobi further stressed the IGP’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the public, enhancing safety, and fostering a culture of accountability within the police force.
