TAOF Provides Cardiovascular Outreach to 300 Beneficiaries in Underserved FCT Community

The Annie Okonkwo Foundation (TAOF) has made a significant impact in rural and underserved communities with its Cardiovascular Outreach Initiative, benefiting over 300 individuals in Kunchingoro IDPs Camp, Abuja. This initiative aimed to address the growing health concerns surrounding cardiovascular diseases among adults, particularly those aged 40 and above.

In partnership with Juhel Pharmacy and Nolton Africa, the foundation provided free cardiovascular screenings, essential medications, and health education to individuals at high risk of heart disease. The initiative targeted key health conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and early signs of heart disease, which are common among older adults.

In a statement to LEADERSHIP, the foundation emphasized the importance of the outreach, noting that cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of death among adults, especially those over 40. Over 300 community members were screened and given a one-month supply of essential medications to manage their conditions.

Health education sessions were also held to increase awareness about the risks associated with cardiovascular diseases and equip participants with the knowledge to take proactive steps for better health.

One beneficiary shared their gratitude, saying, “I didn’t know I had high blood pressure, and I never imagined how important it was to monitor it. The free medication and health advice I received will help me take better care of myself and avoid serious complications in the future.”

This outreach is part of TAOF’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access in underserved communities. The foundation plans to expand the initiative to ensure more people in rural areas have access to essential healthcare resources and education.
