CP Urges Newly Promoted Police Officers to Intensify Efforts in Combatting Crime in Akwa Ibom
The Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has urged the 144 newly promoted officers within the command to strengthen their commitment to eradicating criminal activities across the state.
In a stern warning to criminal elements, CP Azare stated that they must abandon their illegal activities or face the overwhelming force of a newly reinvigorated police force, now ready to tackle all forms of criminality with greater determination.
Azare, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in Akwa Ibom, recently took over from CP Joseph Eribo, who was reassigned to Ekiti State.
Speaking during his first strategic security meeting with the command’s management team, which includes Area Commanders (ACs), Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders (TCs), CP Azare reminded the officers that their recent promotions should serve as a catalyst for increased dedication and performance.
He reiterated the key directives from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, emphasizing the need to combat corruption, prevent extortion, address public misconduct, and enhance supervision of junior officers.
Expressing gratitude to the IGP for the promotions, which he described as a significant morale boost, Azare assured senior officers of his commitment to maintaining an open-door policy and implementing robust security strategies to reduce crime and uphold professionalism within the force.
The CP further instructed all DPOs, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to develop and execute effective crime-reduction plans tailored to their respective areas, ensuring strict enforcement.
Azare concluded by congratulating the newly promoted officers and urging them to serve as exemplary representatives of the command.
