Tompolo Celebrates Kyari at 60, Applauds NNPCL Boss for Transforming Nigeria’s Petroleum Sector

Chief (Dr.) Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo and chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), has commended Mallam Mele Kyari, the group chief executive officer (GCEO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), for his transformational leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s economic recovery.

Tompolo extended his congratulations to Kyari on his 60th birthday anniversary, praising his efforts in revitalizing NNPCL and supporting the nation’s economic growth. His remarks were shared in a statement by Tompolo’s special adviser on Media and Communications, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo.

Tompolo acknowledged that Kyari’s leadership had significantly transformed NNPCL, winning admiration even from skeptics. He lauded Kyari for positioning Nigeria on a path toward sustainable growth and aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic recovery plans outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation recalled that Kyari had rescued a previously struggling NNPC and credited him with attracting widespread recognition for his success in reviving the company.

Tompolo also praised Kyari for overseeing the successful rehabilitation of Nigeria’s refineries in Warri and Port Harcourt. The revival of these refineries will increase the nation’s refining capacity by 117,000 barrels per day (bpd), enhancing energy security and reducing reliance on imported refined products. The Port Harcourt refinery resumed operations on November 26, 2024, at 70% capacity, producing 42,000 bpd, while the Warri refinery came back online on December 30, 2024, at 60% capacity, producing 75,000 bpd.

“This revival is a major milestone in Nigeria’s refining sector transformation,” Tompolo remarked.

As the leader of TSSNL, which plays a central role in combating crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, Tompolo expressed his appreciation for Kyari’s leadership in this area. He credited Kyari for his efforts in addressing crude oil theft by involving non-state actors, including TSSNL, and establishing a state-of-the-art command and control center.

“Your response to the threat to crude oil production was unwavering. Your leadership in establishing an effective security framework has played a key role in reducing oil theft,” Tompolo said.

He further praised Kyari for turning NNPCL into a profitable entity, driving crude oil production from an alarming 600,000 barrels per day (bpd) to nearly 1.8 million bpd, with production now approaching 2 million bpd.

“This achievement is a testament to your innovative approach and vision. Your efforts have been instrumental in reaching these remarkable production levels,” Tompolo added.

On behalf of TSSNL, Tompolo conveyed his best wishes to Kyari for continued good health, wisdom, and strength in his work of nation-building. He reaffirmed TSSNL’s commitment to supporting the strides made in boosting Nigeria’s crude oil production.

“I, Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, on behalf of the management and staff of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), congratulate the indomitable GCEO of NNPCL, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, on his glorious 60th birthday. We pray the Almighty Allah continues to grant you sound health and success in the task of nation-building,” Tompolo concluded.
