Kano Gov’t Begins 3rd Phase Payment of N5bn to Pensioners
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has launched the third phase of pension payments amounting to N5 billion, bringing the total paid to retirees under his administration to N16 billion. This initiative aims to ease the financial challenges faced by pensioners who dedicated decades of service to the state.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf emphasized that this payment was part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to clear pension liabilities and ensure financial security for retirees.
The state government had previously disbursed N6 billion in the first phase of payments, targeting retirees below Grade Level 10, and N5 billion in the second phase, benefiting pensioners with 35 years of service.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to settling all outstanding pension and gratuity benefits and ensuring that every retiree receives their entitlements promptly. He assured that retirees’ sacrifices would not be forgotten, and their welfare would remain a priority.
“This administration remains committed to addressing the challenges faced by our retirees. We will continue to prioritize their welfare and ensure that all outstanding benefits are fully paid,” Governor Yusuf pledged.
This third-phase payment marks a significant step in restoring confidence in Kano’s pension system and improving the living conditions of its senior citizens.
