Bauchi Assembly Okays 8 Commissioner-Nominees
The Bauchi State House of Assembly has approved the appointments of 8 new Commissioners nominated by Governor Bala Mohammed. The confirmation followed a thorough screening process conducted by the assembly members on Thursday.
The confirmed nominees include:
- Hon. Isa Babayo Tilde (Toro Local Government)
- Abdullahi Mohammed (Misau Local Government)
- Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi (Dass Local Government)
- Usman Usman Shehu (Shira Local Government)
- Iliyasu Aliyu Gital (Tafawa Balewa Local Government)
- Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah (Tafawa Balewa Local Government)
- Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin (Darazo Local Government)
- Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam (Toro Local Government)
Following the confirmation, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Sulaiman, also expressed appreciation to the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of state-owned tertiary institutions for suspending their strike action. The assembly commended the JAC for trusting the House to address their concerns.
A report from the House Committee on Education, which was presented during the plenary, urged the state government to implement the agreements reached with the tertiary institutions, especially the revised salary structure for CONPCASS and CONTEDIS. It also recommended forming a monitoring body, including JAC representatives, to ensure compliance with the agreement. Additionally, the committee emphasized the importance of prioritizing education by ensuring adequate funding and staffing to prevent future industrial actions.
