Tinubu Hails ADC’s Promotion, Predicts Brighter Future In Military Career
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday congratulated his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Colonel Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, on his promotion, calling him a reliable officer deserving of the elevation in rank. Colonel Yusuf, who was promoted to the rank of Colonel by the Nigerian Army on December 19, 2024, had his seniority date set on September 22, 2023.
Tinubu praised Yusuf for his diligence, reliability, and exemplary temperament, believing that the officer would continue to excel in his military career. “You all know Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf. He carries a lot of responsibilities. I am joyous that the military authorities have promoted my ADC. He is worthy of the promotion, and I am very happy for him. Nurudeen is a diligent and reliable officer with the right temperament. I believe he will go farther and farther in his profession,” the President stated.
Tinubu also expressed his support for Yusuf, emphasizing the importance of character in defining a person, and affirmed that Yusuf’s promotion earned him the respect of all. “Character defines man, and it has defined you. With your promotion, you are highly respected. From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you. We thank God for you,” Tinubu added. He also extended his gratitude to Yusuf’s wife for her steadfastness and support during his service.
In response, Col. Yusuf thanked President Tinubu for the trust placed in him to serve as ADC since May 2023. He expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah for His blessings and the career milestone, and emphasized the profound honor of serving under Tinubu’s leadership. “To His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief, I am deeply honoured by the privilege to be granted promotion to this enviable rank. Serving as your Aide-de-Camp has been a profound privilege and the highest honour of my career,” Yusuf remarked.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Governor Abdul Rahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister for State Defence Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. Additionally, Yusuf’s family, including his mother, wife, and daughter, were present at the event held at the State House.
