IGP Orders Clampdown on Attackers of Borno Police Station
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered a forceful response to the attackers responsible for an assault on a police station and officers in Borno State.
In a statement on Thursday, Force Public Relations Officer (PRO) ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the IGP condemned the explosion attack that occurred at the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno on January 9, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m. The attack led to the tragic deaths of two police officers: Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.
The IGP has vowed that the perpetrators of this violent act will not escape justice, emphasizing that any individual responsible for killing a police officer will face severe consequences.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers, affirming that their sacrifice in the line of duty would not be forgotten. He assured that the families would receive the immediate payment of the officers’ benefits and entitlements.
To ensure a swift and coordinated response, the IGP has instructed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) for Zone 15, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to mobilize necessary resources and personnel. He has also directed collaboration with other security agencies to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack, ensuring they are held accountable for their actions.
The IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to bringing justice to those who endanger the lives of law enforcement officers and disrupt public safety.
