JUST-IN: Bandits Kill 21 Vigilantes in Katsina
In a tragic development, suspected armed bandits ambushed a joint team of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps and vigilante members in Baure Village on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, killing 21 local security personnel.
The attack took place around 4:30 pm as the team was returning from a condolence visit. Katsina State Police Command confirmed the assault on Friday, stating that officers from the Safana Divisional Headquarters responded promptly to the scene, restoring some degree of normalcy to the area.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The police vowed to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
“The Command is committed to ensuring that those responsible for this dastardly act are brought to justice,” the statement read. “Further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.”
