Police Arrest Soldier With ‘Canadian Loud’ In Lagos
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested a soldier, Lance Corporal Sani Aminu, for allegedly being in possession of a substance suspected to be ‘Canadian Loud’, a potent strain of imported cannabis.

Aminu, who serves in the Nigerian Army with the service number 13NA/70/11481, was arrested on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the Surulere area of Lagos. He was apprehended during a routine police patrol led by ASP Alex Dung at around 8:15 PM.
According to a police report, the soldier was stopped by the patrol team, which discovered the substance suspected to be Canadian Loud, a highly potent form of cannabis known for its strong effects. The police officers immediately took Aminu into custody and transported him to the police station.

Next Steps
The soldier, who was assigned to Abalti Barracks in Surulere, is now in the custody of the Commissioner of Police Tactical Squad 1 for further investigation. The police have not yet disclosed whether Aminu will face charges, but the discovery of the illegal substance has led to the initiation of an official inquiry into the matter.
The arrest of a military personnel with illicit drugs has raised concerns about the involvement of military members in the illegal drug trade. Investigations are expected to determine how Aminu came into possession of the substance and whether he is part of a larger network.
