Ondo LG Polls: Aiyedatiwa Casts Votes, Says Autonomy Will Enhance Grassroots Development
Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Saturday cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections in the state, calling the exercise a significant step toward fostering grassroots development.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who voted at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4 in the Ilaje Local Government Area, expressed his confidence in the process and reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the local government system in line with the law.
After voting, the governor spoke with journalists, praising the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) for conducting a seamless election. He also expressed appreciation to the people of Ondo State for their active participation in the elections, underscoring the importance of local governance in shaping the state’s future.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, also participated in the elections, casting his vote at Igbooroko Unit 16, Ward 3 in the Owo Local Government Area around 9:45 am. Dr. Adelami was pleased with the high voter turnout and urged the people to vote en masse, recalling the outstanding success seen during the 2024 governorship election.
The deputy governor emphasized the crucial role of local government administration in ensuring good governance and strengthening democracy in the state. He also commended the active participation of the people at his polling unit, noting the impressive turnout.
Both officials emphasized that the local government elections were a vital step in empowering the grassroots and ensuring that governance reaches every part of Ondo State.
