Police Kill 7 Bandits, Recover 109 Rustled Livestock in Katsina
A successful operation by the Katsina State Police Command led to the elimination of seven suspected bandits and the recovery of 109 rustled livestock in the early hours of Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Ruwan Doruwa village, located in the Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.
The incident unfolded when the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call at approximately 9:00am, reporting a bandit attack on the village. Armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, the bandits launched a violent assault, causing panic among the villagers.
In a swift and coordinated response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in collaboration with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KTSCWC), and local vigilantes, mobilized to the scene. The security forces engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing seven of the bandits. However, the remaining bandits managed to flee the scene with injuries, abandoning the rustled livestock.
Recovered Livestock
The police operation resulted in the recovery of the following livestock:
- 61 cows
- 44 sheep
- 2 donkeys
- 1 goat
- 1 dog

The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their bravery, professionalism, and commitment during the operation. He emphasized that the police force remains resolute in their mission to protect lives and property throughout the state.

CP Musa also urged the public to continue supporting the security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence. He stressed that community cooperation is essential in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality in Katsina State.
