Trump Declares National Energy Emergency, Vows to Overhaul Trade System

In his first moments as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump declared a “national energy emergency” aimed at addressing rising energy prices, one of his central campaign promises.

“We will drill, baby, drill,” Trump declared during his inaugural address on Monday, signaling an aggressive push to increase domestic energy production.

Trump framed the current inflation crisis as a direct result of “massive overspending and escalating energy prices.” To combat this, he vowed to use the full power of his administration to bring down the cost of goods.

“I will direct my cabinet to use the vast powers at their disposal to reduce prices and restore economic stability,” Trump stated, underscoring his commitment to addressing the nation’s economic challenges.

In addition to his energy policy, Trump announced plans to overhaul the U.S. trade system, aiming to shield American workers and families from foreign competition.

“We will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” Trump said, outlining his approach to trade. “To ensure this, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties, and revenues.”

Trump emphasized that these measures would bring in “massive amounts of money” to the U.S. Treasury, sourced from foreign nations. This bold stance on trade reflects Trump’s long-standing position on protectionism and his determination to reshape global economic relationships to favor American interests.

As he steps into his second term, Trump’s economic agenda promises to be marked by aggressive actions to reduce inflation, boost domestic energy production, and protect American industries from foreign competition.
