Tinubu Resumes Duties After Attending UAE Sustainability Summit

President Bola Tinubu returned to the State House in Abuja on Monday after concluding his participation in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Upon his return, Tinubu received a comprehensive briefing from the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zach Adedeji. The President also engaged in separate discussions with Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, and House of Representatives member, Hon. James Faleke, during the day’s meetings.

At the Abu Dhabi summit, President Tinubu addressed a global audience, where he reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to combating climate change and addressing pressing environmental issues. He commended the UAE for successfully hosting the event and expressed Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate with other nations toward building a more sustainable and resilient world.

On the second day of the summit, Tinubu emphasized the importance of global partnerships, knowledge sharing, and collective action in tackling environmental challenges. He underscored that Nigeria is actively engaged with local communities to combat deforestation, desertification, coastal erosion, flooding, and pollution. He also called for greater international collaboration in mobilizing resources and deploying innovative technologies to mitigate these environmental issues.

In addition to his speeches, Tinubu held bilateral discussions with Rwanda’s President, Paul Kagame, highlighting the need for African nations to prioritize intra-African trade and economic cooperation. He stressed the continent’s abundant resources, skilled workforce, and vast growth potential, advocating for stronger partnerships to unlock Africa’s development opportunities.

The Nigerian President also met with Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the summit to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral ties between their two nations.

At the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony, President Tinubu celebrated the success of two Nigerian SMEs—Nafarm Foods and D-Olivette Global Enterprise—for their innovative contributions to sustainability. He praised their achievements, noting they serve as a source of national pride for Nigeria.

Following the summit, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked President Tinubu for attending the event and reiterated his commitment to enhancing economic cooperation between the UAE and Nigeria. Sheikh Mohamed also accepted an invitation from Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year.
