BREAKING: Ekweremadu’s Wife Released From UK Prison, Returns to Nigeria

Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has been released from a UK prison and has now returned to Nigeria.

According to Daily Post, a reliable source confirmed her return on Tuesday, marking the end of her six-year prison sentence for her involvement in the controversial organ harvesting case.

In 2024, Beatrice, her husband Ike Ekweremadu, and Dr. Obinna Obeta were convicted in the UK for conspiring to exploit a young Nigerian boy for organ harvesting. The boy, who had been hawking goods in Lagos, was reportedly lured to the UK under false pretenses to donate a kidney to the couple’s ailing daughter, Sophia.

As part of the sentencing, Ike Ekweremadu was given a 10-year prison term, while Beatrice was sentenced to six years despite citing health concerns during the trial.

Her release has prompted celebrations across Enugu State, where supporters and well-wishers are hopeful that her husband will soon be released as well. Many have rallied around the Ekweremadu family, expressing prayers and solidarity for his swift return.

This case remains one of the most high-profile legal battles involving a Nigerian politician in recent history, drawing attention worldwide.
