EFCC Arrests 37 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Anambra
Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 37 suspected internet fraudsters in Awka, Anambra State. The arrests were made on Wednesday, following credible intelligence linking the suspects to fraudulent internet activities.
According to a statement from the EFCC, the all-male suspects were apprehended in a sting operation conducted at Commissioners’ Quarters, Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, in the capital city of Anambra State, Awka.
During the operation, the EFCC seized several items from the suspects, including six exotic cars, laptops, and mobile phones. These items are believed to be proceeds or tools used in facilitating the fraudulent activities.
The EFCC also confirmed that the suspects will face charges in court once the ongoing investigations are completed.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat internet fraud and other financial crimes across the country, as the agency continues to clamp down on cybercrime syndicates and individuals involved in illegal activities online.
