Police Deny Arrest Of Kano’s Anti-Corruption Commission Chair Rimingado
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has denied claims that Mr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, was arrested by the police.
In a response to allegations made by Rimingado regarding his alleged arrest, Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, clarified that the Kano government official was invited by the police in relation to a petition that had been filed against him.
Adejobi stated, “We wish to clarify that Mr. Gado was not arrested; instead, he was invited by the Force pertaining to a petition received against him. On Friday, January 17, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit received a petition against Mr. Muhuyi. In accordance with standard investigative protocols, he was invited to engage with police officials as part of due process in addressing the matter.”
He further emphasized that, due to Rimingado’s role as a public servant, it was expected that he cooperate fully with the investigation. ACP Adejobi condemned any attempts to spread misinformation, urging the media and the public to refrain from making misleading statements that could cause unnecessary confusion.
The Force PRO concluded by reiterating the police’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring proper investigative processes are followed in all cases.
