EFCC Investigates Death of Officer Found on Lagos Street

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into the death of one of its officers, whose lifeless body was found on a street in Lagos.

The deceased, identified as Sylvanus, was a staff member of the EFCC. A video obtained by LEADERSHIP showed concerned residents gathering around his body, which was discovered without visible injuries or signs of a vehicle collision. His identification card revealed that he worked with the anti-corruption agency, and onlookers attempted to verify his identity and notify his family or workplace.

EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the investigation into Sylvanus’s death, though he stated that the cause remains undetermined. “His death is being investigated,” Oyewale remarked.

This tragic event follows the recent death of another EFCC officer, Aminu Sahabi Salisu, who was shot in Awka, Anambra State, by a suspected fraudster, Dr. Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, an alleged internet fraudster. The EFCC has not yet revealed any connection between the two incidents but has expressed concern over the safety of its officers.
