Gov. Yusuf Makes Key Appointments, Revives Kano Line to Boost Governance and Service Delivery
Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced a series of high-level appointments and reassignments across critical sectors in the state’s public service, aiming to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.
The developments were disclosed in a statement issued late Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The statement highlighted that these appointments reflect the administration’s dedication to positioning highly skilled professionals in key roles to enhance financial management, drive development, and ensure effective public service for the people of Kano State.
Among the new appointees is Jamila Magaji Abdullahi, who has been appointed as the state’s new Accountant General. With over 16 years of experience in accounting and tax administration, Jamila brings extensive knowledge in financial compliance, budgeting, and risk management. She holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy and a Master’s in Treasury Management from Bayero University, Kano.
Muhammad Yahaya Liman has also been appointed as the new Director of Treasury. A seasoned banker and financial expert with over 16 years of experience, Liman has a proven track record in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and risk management. He holds a B.Sc. in Accounting, an MBA in Finance and Investment, and a Master of Accounting and Financial Management from Bayero University, Kano.
In addition, Akibu Isa Murtala has been promoted from his role as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief of Staff to Special Adviser on Administration, Governor’s Office. The statement noted Murtala’s pivotal role in administrative coordination and his effectiveness in ensuring smooth governance operations.
Engr. Abubakar Sadiq has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA). Previously serving as the Deputy Managing Director of Kano Line, Sadiq’s reassignment is in line with the administration’s focus on improving rural water supply and sanitation infrastructure.
A major highlight of the governor’s new initiatives is the establishment of a strategic committee aimed at revitalizing the Kano State Transport Authority, also known as ‘Kano Line.’ The committee, chaired by Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, will oversee a comprehensive review and management of Kano Line’s operations over the next six months to ensure its efficiency and sustainability. Shu’aibu will also serve as the acting Managing Director of Kano Line, with other members including Bello Abdul (DAGS, Ministry of Public Procurement), Abdullahi Tukur (DAGS, Ministry of Works and Housing), Barr. Badamasi Suleiman Gandu (Practising Lawyer), and Kabiru Habibu Kyauta (PAS, Special Duties) as Secretary.
Governor Yusuf congratulated all the appointees, emphasizing the importance of innovation, dedication, and accountability in their new roles. He encouraged them to work diligently to help achieve the administration’s vision for enhanced governance and public service.
“These appointments and initiatives underscore the administration’s steadfast commitment to advancing development, improving public service, and positioning Kano State as a model of effective governance,” the governor’s spokesman concluded.
