Edo Deputy Governor, Idahosa, Refutes Rumors of Rift with Governor Okpebholo
The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has called on the citizens and residents of the state to disregard rumors claiming there is a rift between him and Governor Monday Okpebholo. He emphasized that not only were the rumors baseless, but his relationship with the governor was one of mutual respect, akin to that of an older and younger brother.
Idahosa made these remarks in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, during a visit by the executives and members of the Edo Parliament of Nigeria to the Government House in Benin City on Tuesday.
The deputy governor highlighted that the Governor Okpebholo-led administration remains focused on delivering good governance and implementing policies aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Edo State.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to this Parliament, of which I am also a member. First and foremost, I thank God for making this possible, and I also deeply appreciate my principal, my boss, for finding me worthy to serve as his deputy,” Idahosa said during the visit. “It is truly an honor to have such distinguished individuals, especially those from Ovia, here today. I recognize the immense support you are offering to this government.”
Idahosa continued: “We will rely on your support and prayers, and we know that many of you are professionals in your fields. When we require your expertise, ideas, and input, we are confident you will be there for us. Let’s also express our gratitude to the Executive Governor of Edo State for entrusting me with the role of deputy, and I promise, with your continued support, I will remain committed to the development of our great state.”
Addressing the rumors of discord between him and Governor Okpebholo, Idahosa urged Edo citizens to remain discerning and not be swayed by misinformation. He reiterated that the ongoing progress of the administration should be the focus for all, rather than rumors.
“To clear the air once and for all, I want to address the misleading rumors that suggest there is any issue between my principal and I. There is absolutely no problem between us. Our relationship is as strong as that of a senior brother and a younger brother,” he affirmed.
He further reassured the public of the administration’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of Edo people. “We are committed to promoting human capital development and advancing the interests of our state. The people of Edo will always come first, and this administration, under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo, is fully dedicated to serving them.”
Earlier in the event, Professor Ikponmwonsa Omorodion, President of the Edo Parliament of Nigeria, who was represented by Dr. Aimufua Festus, the Secretary General, commended the achievements of the Governor Okpebholo-led administration and congratulated Deputy Governor Idahosa on his recent electoral success.
