Kano Government Extends C-of-O Recertification Deadline

The Kano State Government has extended the deadline for the ongoing recertification of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) by 60 days.

Initially scheduled to run from November 25, 2024, to January 31, 2025, the exercise will now conclude on April 1, 2025.

Announcing the extension, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, Muhammad Musbahu Yahuza, praised the public for their enthusiastic participation. He also acknowledged concerns about the initial timeframe and assured property owners that the extension would allow them sufficient time to complete the process.

All land and property owners who have not yet recertified their ownership documents are encouraged to take advantage of the new deadline.

Yahuza also warned that failure to comply within the extended period could lead to the forfeiture of property rights under existing regulations.

The recertification process is being conducted at the Kano State Geographic Information System (KANGIS) office, and property owners are urged to complete it within the new timeframe to avoid legal repercussions.
