Police Operatives Rescue 13 Trafficked Victims in Kaduna, 3 Hostages in Ogun
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has intensified efforts to combat organised crimes, including human trafficking and kidnapping, in a bid to strengthen national security and minimize criminal activities. The crackdown on these crimes aligns with the 2025 action plan of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
On January 31, 2025, police operatives in Kaduna State apprehended three suspects—Samson Peter (25), Haruna Duniya (45), and Abdulazaq Olawole (58)—for trafficking 13 victims to Oyo State. The victims were being transported in an unmarked vehicle. The operatives successfully rescued the victims, and investigations are ongoing.
In Ogun State, on January 29, 2025, police operatives carried out a covert operation to locate a kidnapper’s hideout. This operation followed the abduction of three victims on January 25, 2025. When the gang saw the police, a gun battle ensued. The operation resulted in the neutralization of five gang members and the rescue of the three kidnapped victims. In addition to the rescue, the police recovered several weapons, three mobile phones, and a cash sum of N5.2 million (Five Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira). The victims’ vehicles were also recovered.
IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun commended the police operatives for their bravery, dedication, and patriotism in handling the operations. He encouraged all officers to remain relentless in their pursuit of peace and reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to tackling security threats effectively.
