El-Rufai Criticizes Kaduna Gov Sani Over Alleged Sycophantic Praise of Tinubu

Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has sharply criticized his successor, Governor Uba Sani, accusing him of sycophantically praising President Bola Tinubu’s government due to undue favors and financial assistance received by the state.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, El-Rufai condemned Governor Sani for what he described as “embarrassing rambling” in a recent TV interview. During the interview, Sani had expressed praise for President Tinubu’s administration and dismissed any political coalition that aimed to challenge the government in the 2027 elections.

El-Rufai, responding to the praise, revealed that Governor Sani’s statements could be attributed to the substantial financial assistance—amounting to over N150 billion in reimbursements, interventions, and grants—that the Tinubu government had reportedly provided to Kaduna State in the last 18 months.

El-Rufai, writing under the hashtag #ConcernedKadunaCitizen, remarked, “Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why. However, confirming that Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu, in the last 18 months, now explains everything.”

He added that while Sani may defend Tinubu’s conditional cash transfers, he emphasized that the people of Kaduna would ultimately judge the actions of both governors in due time.

The statement marks another chapter in the ongoing political rift between the two leaders, with El-Rufai’s comments likely to stir further debate in the state’s political circles.
