NIS Expands Contactless Passport Application to Europe on Friday

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the expansion of its Contactless Passport Application System to Europe, following the successful implementation of the system in Canada on November 5, 2024.

In a statement signed by the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI A.S. Akinlabi, the agency confirmed that the next phase of the rollout will begin on Friday, February 7, 2025, in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Contactless Passport Application System, which is accessible via the NIS Mobile app on Google PlayStore, allows Nigerians to renew their passports without visiting any Passport Centre for biometric enrollment. This initiative is designed to streamline the passport renewal process, making it more convenient for Nigerians abroad by eliminating the need for long wait times and in-person visits to consulates or embassies.

The NIS emphasized its commitment to modernizing service delivery and ensuring efficient and innovative solutions for Nigerians worldwide. “The Service reiterates its commitment to innovative and efficient service delivery to Nigerians anywhere in the world,” the statement concluded.
