2 Killed as Police Repel Attack, Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims in Katsina
Two persons were killed in Maibakko Village, Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, during an attack by suspected bandits. However, the police successfully repelled the assault and rescued 13 kidnapped victims.
The attack occurred early on Thursday when heavily armed bandits stormed the village, firing sporadically and abducting residents. Upon receiving a distress call at approximately 1:43 a.m., operatives from the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters responded swiftly and engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the intense exchange of gunfire forced the attackers to flee, resulting in the rescue of 13 abducted individuals. Sadly, two civilians lost their lives during the assault, and another victim sustained injuries.
The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, while security forces continue their efforts to track down the fleeing bandits.
The Katsina Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding residents, promising to maintain aggressive security operations to combat criminal activities in the state. They also assured the public that law enforcement agencies would remain determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
