Fayemi, A Pillar Of Support For Ekiti Development — Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has described his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as a role model, mentor, teacher, and a dependable pillar of support whose counsel continues to add significant value to governance and development efforts in the state.

Governor Oyebanji praised Dr. Fayemi for his role as a shining light, reformist, pacesetter, change agent, and public servant who redefined public service in Ekiti, leaving a lasting impact on the state’s political and socio-economic landscape.

In a statement issued to congratulate Fayemi on the occasion of his 60th birthday, Governor Oyebanji highlighted that the milestone offered an opportunity to celebrate the former governor’s remarkable legacy of integrity, service, and honor.

Dr. Fayemi, who served two terms as Governor of Ekiti State (2010–2014 and 2018–2022), and also served as the former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, marks his 60th birthday on February 9.

Governor Oyebanji expressed pride in having a personality like Fayemi in Ekiti, acknowledging his tireless dedication to public service and his ongoing passion for the state’s socio-economic development. He commended Fayemi for his substantial contributions to the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, when he stood alongside other prominent pro-democracy activists to bring about democratic reforms, a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

The Governor also noted that Fayemi’s time as a two-term Governor, former Federal Minister, and past Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) highlighted a stellar career in public service. He emphasized that Fayemi would look back with fulfillment on his contributions to Ekiti and Nigeria, recognizing the far-reaching impact of his service.

Governor Oyebanji wished Fayemi long life, good health, and renewed energy for continued service to Ekiti, Nigeria, and humanity.

“On behalf of my wife, Olayemi, the Government, and the good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate this great leader and illustrious son of the Land of Honour on his Diamond Jubilee, which earns him membership in the ‘Elders’ Club.’ May you continue to prosper and flourish as you continue to serve and champion good causes,” the Governor added.
