Gov. Okpebholo Lauds Minister Umahi for Ongoing Repairs of Federal Roads in Edo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has praised the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for the ongoing construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and emergency repairs of federal roads across the state.

The Governor made the commendation during a visit to Engr. Umahi on Monday, February 10, 2024, to discuss recent developments in the state’s road infrastructure.

According to the Director of Press in the Ministry of Works, Mohammed Ahmed, the Governor specifically praised the adoption of Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology in the road repairs, emphasizing that it will significantly enhance the quality of roads across the country.

“We are here to express our gratitude to the Minister for the excellent work being done in the state. Concrete technology is benefiting us, as well as the country at large. We truly appreciate his efforts and those of the Federal Ministry of Works,” said Okpebholo.

The Governor further acknowledged that the use of CRCP in key federal road projects has improved both the durability and performance of the roads. He explained, “With its continuous steel reinforcement, CRCP not only reduces maintenance needs but also extends the lifespan of roads. This is particularly crucial for a rapidly growing and increasingly urbanized state like Edo. Furthermore, CRCP is especially effective in areas with high water table levels and heavy traffic, providing long-term benefits for motorists and commuters.”

In his response, the Minister thanked Governor Okpebholo for the recognition and commended the efforts of the state in supporting the Federal Ministry of Works.

Engr. Umahi highlighted the importance of sustainable infrastructure solutions like CRCP, noting that such innovations align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He said, “The Federal Government is committed to improving Edo State’s infrastructure through innovative technologies like CRCP. This effort is a key part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on sustainable development to benefit all Nigerians.”
