NECO Releases 2024 SSCE External Results, Records 67.35% Pass Rate
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, revealing a pass rate of 67.35%. A total of 57,114 candidates achieved five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics.
NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, disclosed this while announcing the release of the results in Minna on Friday. The examination, which took place from November 14 to December 14, 2024, saw 86,067 candidates register for the exam.
Prof. Wushishi highlighted that the release of the results marked the completion of all processes involved in conducting a successful examination, including the pre-examination, examination, and post-examination stages.
A total of 29 subjects were examined, with 83,220 candidates sitting for English Language and 83,024 candidates for Mathematics. According to the results, 62,929 candidates, representing 75.62%, obtained credit and above in English Language, while 77,988 candidates, representing 93.93%, obtained credit and above in Mathematics.
The registrar further revealed that 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39%, obtained five credits and above, regardless of whether they had passed English Language and Mathematics.
However, Wushishi also reported that 6,160 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice, marking a 27.7% reduction compared to the previous year.

- Total candidates registered: 86,067 (52.27% male, 47.72% female)
- Total candidates that sat for the exam: 84,799 (52.21% male, 47.78% female)
- Candidates who sat for English Language: 83,220 (75.62% passed with credit and above)
- Candidates who sat for Mathematics: 83,024 (93.93% passed with credit and above)
- Candidates who obtained five credits, including English and Mathematics: 57,114 (67.35%)
- Candidates who obtained five credits, irrespective of English and Mathematics: 70,711 (83.39%)
