Yobe Monarch Commends Gov Buni For Intervention In Curbing Rising Kidney Failure

The Emir of Bade and Deputy Chairman of the Yobe State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Umar Abubakar Suleiman, has commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his efforts to facilitate research to address rising cases of kidney failure in the area.

The Emir gave the commendation in an interview with LEADERSHIP in his palace in Gashua town of Bade local government area of Yobe state.

He noted that the ancient town is suffering from the tragedy of chronic kidney disease, resulting in many deaths in the community, adding that the research to uncover the causes is crucial and timely.

The Emir urged the residents of Gashua and other parts of the local government to give their total support to the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC) in carrying out their research.

“Many people in our domain and more particularly, those residing in Gashua have been battling with the kidney disease for many years.

“We have been battling with the cases of kidney failure in this town for many years, the menace has killed many people,” he noted.

Alhaji Suleiman said this informed a peaceful protest organised against incessant food adulteration in the area, adding that some persons were dragged before the court over their alleged responsibility in preparing unsafe food.

He expressed happiness with the research and called on the community to give their total support in terms of prayers and compliance.
