DSS Arrests 3 Over Alleged Assault On Own Operatives At Lagos Assembly
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged assault on its operatives at the Lagos State House of Assembly earlier this week.
According to LEADERSHIP’s investigation, the incident occurred after lawmakers at the Assembly mobilized supporters to the complex, where they attacked DSS officers who had been invited by the Assembly management to secure the legislative premises.
A DSS source revealed that, following a thorough review of CCTV footage, the agency was able to identify three suspects involved in the assault. The individuals arrested were Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem, a photographer, and two others—Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen and Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh—both of whom are reportedly attached to the Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms.
The suspects were tracked and apprehended in various locations across Lagos. They have since confessed to their involvement in the assault and are expected to face charges in court soon.
The incident follows a leaked memo from the Lagos Assembly dated February 14, 2025, addressed to the DSS director and other heads of security agencies in the state. The memo indicated that there was credible information suggesting that former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa was planning to forcibly reinstate himself on February 18, 2025.
Concerned by the potential security risks posed by the situation, the Assembly Management requested the assistance of the DSS to maintain order and protect both lawmakers and the legislative complex.
