Katsina Police Foil Bandits’ Attack On NSCDC Personnel, Kill 1 Suspect

The Katsina State Police Command successfully thwarted an attempted attack by armed bandits along the Dutsinma-Kurfi highway in Dutsinma Local Government Area on Sunday, February 23, 2025. The bandits targeted officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who were on duty at the time.

According to a press release from the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the police received a distress call at approximately 12:57 a.m. and immediately deployed operatives from the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters to the scene.

A gun battle ensued between the police and the armed bandits, forcing the attackers to flee, with some sustaining gunshot injuries. During a subsequent search of the area, police discovered the body of one neutralized bandit.

The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects, with investigations ongoing. In the statement, the Police Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
