Nigerians’ Behaviour Is Why We’re Not Like US Police, Says Delta PPRO

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, has pointed to Nigerians’ behavior as the key reason why the Nigerian Police cannot mirror the operations of their counterparts in the United States.

In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, SP Edafe emphasized the need for a collective effort to improve the relationship between the police and the public.

“We all want the Nigeria Police to be like the US police, it’s good, and it’s very good to wish for the best. But do we behave and act like US citizens?” he wrote.

He went on to stress the link between societal behavior and law enforcement, saying, “The Police, they say, is a reflection of society. While we do our best to change the narratives, let us understand that it’s a collective battle to be better. Peace.”

Edafe’s comments have ignited discussions about the shared responsibility of both citizens and law enforcement officers in creating a more effective and improved policing system in Nigeria.
