Tinubu Seeks Stronger Business Ties with Germany, Assures Commitment to Open Market Policies
President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening business ties with Germany, assuring international partners of Nigeria’s dedication to open-market policies and ongoing economic reforms.
During a bilateral meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s eagerness to collaborate with Germany to promote mutual economic growth and opportunities.
The President highlighted the importance of creating a business-friendly environment to attract foreign investment and reiterated that his reforms are aimed at improving Nigeria’s global business rankings.
“It was a very good bilateral discussion,” Tinubu said at a joint press conference. “I could sense from our earlier meeting that our businessmen and policymakers are eager to do business with Germany. My job is to continue giving assurances that our business doors are open and that reforms are progressing well. These business rankings, that’s what we have discussed.”
“We plan to strengthen the relationship and build a partnership that will be fulfilling and rewarding for both countries, fostering people-to-people ties and government-to-government facilitation of opportunities and prosperity,” he added.
President Steinmeier praised Tinubu’s leadership and Nigeria’s resilience in navigating economic challenges, pledging Germany’s continued support to further strengthen Nigeria’s economy.
Drawing from Germany’s own experience of overcoming a past economic crisis, Steinmeier highlighted the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving national transformation.
“It is not easy; it was Germany’s experience many years ago when we were in a deep economic crisis. You need a lot of courage and perseverance for the benefit of your country,” Steinmeier said.
“I and all of German politics are closely following your courageous steps, and we will support you. Germany will support Nigeria’s ongoing reforms,” he assured.
