EFCC Commences Investigation of Suspected Oil Thief, Barge, and Two Trucks
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have launched an investigation into a suspected oil thief and two trucks, along with a barge, which were handed over to the Commission by the Nigerian Navy, NNS Delta, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Lt. Commander E.O. Adeola, representing the Commander of NNS Delta, said the barge, named Oghenekome, along with two trucks laden with an unspecified quantity of products suspected to be crude oil, and one suspect, Samson Uki, were intercepted by NNS Delta personnel at the NIWA jetty while the products were being discharged from the barge into the trucks. Preliminary investigations revealed that the operation was being carried out without the requisite licenses.
The EFCC received the suspect, the barge, and the two trucks from NNS Delta. Usman Abdullahi Nuhu, an Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, assured that the Commission would conduct further investigations and pursue possible prosecution of the individuals involved in the illicit activity.
