Delta Police Arrest Two Suspects in Murder of Site Engineer by Employees
The Delta State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder of site engineer, Chigozie Udalor Eho, who was killed by his employees after they discovered he had significant funds in his bank account.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the incident was reported on December 12, 2024, by Hyacinth Nnalue, who informed the Akwukwu Igbo Police Division that his cousin, Udalor, had been missing since December 10, 2024. Nnalue also revealed that Udalor served as his site manager at a fish pond project in the Bod Camp area of Akwukwu Igbo community.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) initiated an investigation, which was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). SP Edafe stated that Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, instructed the DPO, CSP Aliyu Shaba, to conduct a thorough and technical investigation.
On March 31, 2025, detectives arrested David Tacho, who attempted to withdraw money from Udalor’s bank account using the victim’s phone, and Daniel Orshio, who was involved in the murder. The investigation revealed that David Tacho is the brother of Victor Tacho, who, along with Pius Daniel, both of whom are still at large, conspired with Orshio to kill the victim.
The police spokesperson further explained that all four suspects had been employed by Udalor as part of the project team. Upon discovering that Udalor had substantial funds in his Moniepoint account, the suspects planned the murder. They struck him on the head with a hammer, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the project site.
Currently, David Tacho and Daniel Orshio are in police custody, while Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel remain on the run. The body of the deceased has been exhumed and is awaiting an autopsy. Authorities continue their efforts to apprehend the two remaining suspects.
